Tools and Hardware Reviews of Powermatic 1792011K Model PM2000 5 HP 1-Phase Table Saw with 50-Inch Accu-Fence System and Rout-R-LiftCustomer Review: Still Waiting in St. Louis! Summary: 1 Stars
Purchased the PowermaticŪ PM2000 10" 5 HP 1 Phase 230V Table Saw w/ 50" Accu-Fence & Rout-R-Lift, Item #1792011K through CPO Powermatic on 09/03/08.
* I called CPO Powermatic on 09/04/08 to get shipping info. I was told that the order was just placed that day with Powermatic (1) and that shipping info would be available on 09/05/08.
* I called CPO Powermatic on 09/05/08 to get shipping info. I was told that the order was just placed that day with PowermaticŪ (2) and that they had no shipping date from PowermaticŪ. I was then told to call back on 09/08/08.
* I called CPO Powermatic on 09/08/08 to get shipping info. I was told the order had just been placed that day with PowermaticŪ (3). I told the woman I was speaking with that the order was actually placed on 09/03/08 and asked her what was really going on? She stated that there was nothing going on and that I would get the item I ordered! She then suggested I call back on 09/10/08 for shipping info.
* I called CPO Powermatic on 09/10/08 to get shipping info, but guess what? There is no shipping info available from CPO Powermatic! CPO Powermatic now tells me that they are waiting on PowermaticŪ for shipping info! I asked the woman I was speaking with if the order had actually been forwarded to PowermaticŪ? She would not answer my question. Wonder why? She just told me that I would get a shipping date once PowermaticŪ shipped the item.
* I then called POWERMATICŪ on 09/10/08 and asked them if they had stock available to ship. I was told that they had plenty of stock on hand and that they could ship out the day after they receive an order!
Wonder what is really going on with CPO Powermatic? I've got a really bad feeling that CPO Powermatic is a disreputable company! For now I will suggest that buyers beware of buying from CPO Powermatic and all the other CPO sites.
I'll keep you posted if I ever get a real shipping date from CPO Powermatic or if they try to cancel out my order!
By the way, "CPO Powermatic already charged my credit card on 09/03/08 for the material I ordered!"
09/12/08 Follow-up
* Late afternoon on 09/10/08 I again spoke with CPO Powermatic. This time I was promised that I would definitely have a shipping date by 09/12/08. I was also told I would have my materials by the following week. Since this is now the fifth time I have been promised a shipping date by CPO Powermatic I'm just not going to put a great deal of faith in what CPO Powermatic is telling me!
* I called CPO Powermatic on 09/12/08 to get shipping info. The woman I spoke with told me the material will now ship sometime next week! I again asked her, "What was really going on? She stated that there was nothing going on and that I would get the item I ordered! She then suggested I call back on 09/16/08 for shipping info." This has got to be the worst customer service I have ever received!
09/13/08 Follow-up
* Emailed CPO Powermatic Customer Service early afternoon on 09/12/08. I quoted two questions and their answers that I found on the FAQ portion of the CPO Powermatic website.
1. When will my item ship?
We (CPO Powermatic) will ship this item within 3 business days of the day payment is verified. Once your item is shipped, you will receive a shipping confirmation email containing a link to our order status page. This page provides you with a tracking number and a link to the shipping carrier's tracking page.
Note: CPO Powermatic charged my credit card back on 09/03/08. So by CPO Powermatic's' own admission my purchase should have shipped on 09/05/08!
2. When will my item arrive?
The expected delivery time for packages differs depending on the location. If your item is shipping from our primary warehouse, it will most likely arrive at your location within 3-5 business days of shipment. If your item is shipping from a secondary warehouse, you can expect your shipment to arrive within 5-10 business days.
Note: On 09/10/08 CPO Powermatic told me that the saw would ship from the POWERMATICŪ warehouse located in La Vergne, TN. Again by CPO Powermatics' own admission I should have this item sometime between 09/12/08 & 09/15/08, but I won't because it has not shipped!
* Received an email from a Scott Davis in the CPO Powermatic customer service department telling me that they were trying to get my saw shipped from POWERMATICŪ on 09/12/08. I asked him what the delay has been or is!
* Received a second email from Scott Davis telling me that there was a "NOTE" on my order asking for it not to ship until 09/11/08. I don't know where that so-called "NOTE" came from, but it sure wasn't me! Why wasn't that "NOTE" mentioned during one of my previous communications with CPO Powermatic? I would have told them that it was nothing I had requested and get the saw shipped ASAP!
It finally dawned on me why CPO Powermatic is dragging their feet on my order. CPO Powermatic is hoping that I'll get angry with their constant delays and just cancel the order. You see I ordered and paid $2,849.99 for the saw on 09/02/08 and shortly after that the price jumped up to $3,779.95. I get the feeling that CPO Powermatic just doesn't want to honor the original lower price!
09/15/08 Follow-up
STILL WAITING! Have not heard from CPO Powermatic!
09/23/08 Follow-up
* On 09/16/08 I contacted POWERMATICŪ directly and asked them for their help in locating my shipment. They were and are very helpful. I was told that my item was on their dock awaiting pick-up by the carrier.
* On 09/17/08 the item was picked up by USF Holland and was finally in route to me. Material finally arrived at my home on the afternoon of 09/22/08. That's ten days later than it was promised!
* No one from CPO Powermatic has shown me the courtesy of calling me back after 09/12/08 and to me that speaks volumes about the company and its people! This will be the last time they get any of my business!
OK, with all that said about my problems dealing with CPO Powermatic below is my evaluation of the actual PM2000 Saw.
Materials arrived on 09/22/08 via USF Holland trucking. There were numerous boxes (extension table top, rails, Accu-Fence, Rout-R-Lift, etc) and everything was packed very well. Items arrived in excellent condition.
Saw was attached (bolted) to a pallet/skid and surrounded by a heavy cardboard box with 2"x4" bracing and steel banding. Removal was not difficult, but do exercise caution when taking the saw off of the pallet/skid. You can do this by yourself, but if you have a helper it will go much faster and be a bit safer.
Checked table surface with a straight edge and it was dead on. Next I checked the surface of the extensions and they were dead on too! So far so good!
Next I installed a blade and made all the necessary adjustments for the table to blade alignment. Take your time here and everything will be fine! Remember hast-makes-waste or poorly cut wood. This activity took me about an hour, but then I was familiarizing myself with the saw too!
After unpacking the remainder of the material I began assembly of the Accu-Fence and table extension with the Rout-R-Lift. This activity took about another hour, but again I was still familiarizing myself with the saw. Just follow the instructions and everything will go together as it should.
During the course of assembling this saw I did not have any problems with alignment of drilled holes, tapped holes, bolts, screws, etc. I don't know about you, but that tells me something about a product before I even use it!
After attaching a plug to the end of the power cord I plugged the saw into the 220 outlet and turned it on. I just stood there for a minute or two listening to that 5hp motor sing! SWEET!
Over the course of the next couple of hours I used the saw to rip pieces for a project I just started. Very accurate cuts! NICE! VERY NICE!
I can only tell you that this is one of the nicest saws I have ever used. I know I am going to be very happy that I spent the extra dollars and bought this saw. However, I am extremely sorry that I purchased it through CPO Powermatic!!!!!
Oh! I almost forgot to mention the built in casters. They work! You'll completely understand that statement if you do buy a PM2000 saw.
I'll follow-up with you all in a few months after I have put this saw through its paces!
My one star rating is for CPO Powermatic! The saw gets four.five stars!
