Sturdy and Strong
Built from heavy-duty iron castings for long-term durability, the PJ-882HH weighs 744 pounds. The full, eight-inch cut width and 82-inch overall bed length--as well as innovative single handwheel that tilts the fence in and out with positive stops at +/- 45 and 90 degrees--make straightening the largest project pieces exceptionally accurate. And this jointer provides adjustable parallelogram tables, easy knife setting, and a 1/8-inch depth-of-cut limiter for fast table positioning.

Powerful Two-Horsepower Motor
The PJ-882HH has a two-horsepower motor housed in the heavy steel stand, providing plenty of power and stability for the most demanding jobs. A fully welded, all-steel base cabinet provides a solid platform for the PJ-882HH, and at 20-1/2 x 20-1/2 x 15 inches (W x H x D), it puts the bed at a comfortable 31-5/16 inches above the floor.

The base cabinet houses the motor and its adjustable mount for altering belt tension when necessary, and a rear door for easy access to the motor and its mount. An on/off switch is conveniently mounted to a mast, while an effective dust evacuation chute has its outlet positioned low on the base, keeping the hose flat on the floor.

Helical Cutterhead
The jointer has a helical cutterhead that uses individual solid carbide cutters--each with four indexed cutting edges that can be rotated should the first edge become dull.

This design is effective because the cutterhead's carbide inserts are arranged in spiral-shaped rows, with a four-inch radius ground into them. They're also mounted so they approach the wood at a 14-degree angle, which creates a true shear cut that eliminates much of the impact that results in fiber disturbance. Also, the durability of the carbide combined with the low-impact, shear cutting action mean the inserts have an extended long life, far exceeding that of straight blades.

Optimum Accuracy
Because accuracy depends on the perfect alignment of the infeed and outfeed tables, each corner has an adjustable cam for correcting any coplanar misalignments that may occur over time. Also, the mechanism that moves the tables up and down keeps them close to the cutterhead, which results in cleaner cuts and a superior finish on the wood.

Precision Fence
For reliable performance, the PJ-882HH's fence has an insert that prevents scratching of the table when it's moved, and the operating mechanism allows precise bevel setting and ultra-stability when locked. A handwheel with patented worm gear system ensures precise fence tilting.
